Endings
June 8, 2020
Have you felt during this pandemic that there has been a feeling of ending? Endings of course are a necessary part of life but the anxious feelings arise in the ‘not knowing’ when the new beginning will come around.
Endings in life can be for a whole variety of reasons. The endings we are all feeling right now of our 'normal' days, behaviours, movements or uses of energy aren't really endings if we look at them as beginnings of a slightly different nature and refreshed approach to the ways we used to live.
That's hopefully where this poem (maybe/maybe not unfinished?) is going. Anyway folks - this is my creative offering to all of you today who are interested in my work and continue to support my thoughts as a writer and as a friend.
Care for and love yourselves as much as you are caring for and loving each other.
The inverse ending
don’t seal the much needed draft
don’t let the dark overpower the light
don’t delay the feelings you know you need to share
don’t forbid the script its union with the stage
don’t tidy the creative mess
don’t stop dreaming
don’t let the air around you sour
don’t let your loved ones down
don’t set the alarm
don’t rise too late
don’t rise too early
don’t stop the call
don’t say goodbye
don’t forget to love
don’t cease to fail
don’t fail to remember
don’t push back the thought
don’t daub the last blob
don’t let the poem end
don’t find a solution
don’t dam the dam
don’t dry the tear
don’t stop caring
don’t stop needing
don’t close an open door
don’t stop living
don’t let go
