Be patient with yourself

May 23, 2020

My creative offering today - to bring a little patience to your day with love from me to all of you out there.

Being patient with ourselves and the life that continues to move around us has been hugely changeable over the last weeks and months of the pandemic that is C19. Often being patient with our own selves, our closest relatives and our dearest loved ones, especially during these times of heightened stress, is a challenge or at times non-existent.

Frustrations and anxiety, if not checked, can run to unnecessary and unhealthy highs so I know that I’ll actively keep on trying to stop every so often, in between work and other life commitments to breathe, do a bit of yoga, get some fresh air where I can and appreciate the value of being patient with myself before I can be patient with the rest of the world.

Be patient with yourself

If your dreams aren’t doing what you’d hoped they would

If you’re letting the light back to fight off your dark

If you’re sharing less than you did before

If you find yourself in a creative mess

If it’s only air that you crave at this present time

If you feel like you’ve let someone down

If you’re not sure what makes you feel alive

If you’ve forgotten how to be loved

If you only want to remember

If you can’t take the call

If you can’t say goodbye

Someone once reminded me of a story that occurred when I was a child coming home from school one day with homework about the senses and I was asked the question 'With what do we feel?' and my infantile answer was 'comfort'.

A day in my life as I reminisce over conducting a wonderful wedding ceremony that was to be a walk down memory lane in the heart of the Glasgow Barrowlands.

Show yourself that you are capable of so much more than worry by stopping to take time to breathe, stand still, look at yourself closely and know how far you’ve come.

When was the last time (before this pandemic took root and made us prisoners in our own homes) that you really stopped to look at, feel close to, listen to, touch or consider the immense power of the mighty trees that gives shelter above your head?

Yarns, chronicles, anecdotes, tales… Be the reader. Be the reader of awe-inspiring books and epic tales but also take time to read the actions, thoughts, feelings and sharings of those around you by putting down the devices and simply being with each other.

Have you felt during this pandemic that there has been a feeling of ending? Endings of course are a necessary part of life but the anxious feelings arise in the ‘not knowing’ when the new beginning will come around.
